I have a scene that I'm working on that has two characters on a sofa talking with a basketball game on television in the background. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get some audio for this basketball game. I thought about recording one that comes on TV but it would be illegal. Any suggestions?

    Thanks....

If it were me, i'd go record my own audio, but i'd be so sorely tempted to absolutely pack it full of little jokes.

Guess you are right... Even if it were recognizable that wouldn't be illegal.

you do know he means making the sounds yourself, rather than taping them?

Jease! I am out of it! Got it now. Also I was thinking of maybe getting some audio from a local radio station from a taped game. They are suppose to be watching an NBA game so I'll need it to sound pretty load.

would it be possible to record a feed coming in from a radio station, but then just make a 1 minute loop just from segments of audience screaming without commentary or anything else in the way...

And then when you have a good long loop you can record commentary over the top saying anything you like.

It's a lot of effort but could be worth it. Maybe.

I don't know the legal aspects, but surely the clubs don't own the rights to the noise mad by the paying audience. Could you go to a baseball game carrying a minidisc recorder and mic. You would have the problem of people speaking close to where you are sat sounding too loud, and there speech would be too comprehensible, but with careful editing and overdubbing, you could probably make it less recognisable. And then use a bandpass to give it that tinny narrow frequency range.

p.s. I've never tried this, but that would be how I'd approach it in the first instance.

That's a possibility, but if I were to do that would I need permission to use the audio?
